Loyal Orange Lodge 155 - 'No Surrender'

The official ceremony to mark the re-opening of L.O.L. 155 “No Surrender” took place on Saturday the 14th of January 2012 with the official duties being performed by the Most Worshipful Grand Master of England, Most Worshipful Bro. R.W. Bather HDGM being assisted by the Right Worshipful Grand Chaplain, Right Worshipful Bro. J.R.G. Harvey HDGC, Right Worshipful Grand Treasurer, Right Worshipful Bro. G. Crone HDGM and the Right Worshipful Grand Secretary of England, Right Worshipful Bro. D. Taggart.
The Grand Mace Bearer, Worshipful Bro. H. Weston was also in attendance on this auspicious occasion.

This is the first lodge to actually meet in the town of Stockport for at least 90 years, though Loyal Orange Lodge 155 “No Surrender” was last recorded as meeting in Stalybridge in 1926 at Holy Trinity Mission Hall in Brierley Street as part of the Stalybridge District No. 18.
When applying for a warrant to open the lodge in Stockport, those involved in the venture decided to resurrect an old warrant and thus bring to life once again a dormant Orange lodge.

All the founding members of Loyal Orange Lodge 155 are former members of Robert Jocelyn (3rd Earl of Roden) Memorial Loyal Orange Lodge 184 but live in the Stockport borough or surrounding areas.
It is hoped that by having a lodge sitting within the boundary of the town of Stockport that it will make it easier to recruit new members into the Orange Institution from Stockport and North Cheshire.
