Whilst researching without predudice the story of the Manchester Martyrs, I came across your site. Congratulation to all involved with the research and informative manner by which you have presented the event and after events. Never again will I travel under the bridge on Hyde Rd without respect for Sergeant Charles Brett. My Maternal Grandfather was Irish and my Great Grandmother passed away on Every St, Ancoats in 1905 ( no Fennian connection ) It really is such a shame that nothing seems able to be done on the repair of Sergeant Brett's memorial stone....(jobs worths) Surely if a news item feature was on Granada Reports or NW tonight.money via a appeal could be raised to put right what time has broken. I for sure would be more than happy to contribute to such a worthy cause !

I hope you dont mind me asking on here, I am trying to find out some information about my grandfather, going back to around 1920. All I know about him is is name, that he lived in the Moston area of Manchester and that he was an active member of the orange lodge. Could anyone put me in the right direction ? Thank you.
